The optimal use of pinhole glasses
Pinhole glasses can be used universally depending on your personal goals:
- as a preventative measure and for general eye relaxation
- to improve existing vision problems such as astigmatism (cylinder vision)
- macular degeneration
- glaucoma
- cataracts and for the
- correction of short-sightedness and long-sightedness (myopia and hyperopia) as well as
- presbyopia (age-related long-sightedness)
Pinhole glasses are practical for both close-up work (e.g. reading or sewing) and distance work (e.g. reading signs) in the home. A significant training effect is achieved with Pinhole Glasses when focusing on moving objects (computer work, television). Pinhole Glasses are preferably worn when looking at a light source for a long period of time.
IMPORTANT: The regularity of the training
Wear the Pinhole Glasses for 10 to 20 minutes every day. At the beginning of the training, a wearing time of 5 minutes has generally proven to be useful. The intervals and wearing time should be increased daily so that a training time of 30–40 minutes is achieved. The first results are usually visible after 4–6 weeks.
IMPORTANT: The well-being of your eyes should be the benchmark for how long you wear the pinhole glasses.
Instructions for using the pinhole glasses
- In principle, you can wear the pinhole glasses immediately and for as long as you like. They will not harm your eyes in any way. The comfort and relaxation of your eyes should be the criterion for how long you wear the pinhole glasses.
- As a ‘training device’, the pinhole glasses may cause slight muscle soreness when you first start exercising your untrained eye muscles. In this case, take the glasses off immediately and increase the intervals of wearing time each day.
- Take your time to get used to them and only wear the pinhole glasses in familiar surroundings at first.
- The grid effect may cause irritation (decentralisation) at first. If this is the case, walk around the fixed object and blink until your brain no longer perceives the black grid. The brain usually stops perceiving the grid after 10–15 minutes.
- Pinhole glasses reduce light, so they should only be used in sufficiently bright conditions.
- Contact lenses should be removed when training your eyes with pinhole glasses. If the contact lenses are only for short-sightedness, for example, and long-sightedness needs to be trained, the contact lenses do not need to be removed. The same applies in the reverse case, of course.
Cleaning the pinhole glasses
For normal cleaning, use a dry and/or lukewarm, mild soap solution-soaked (spectacle) cleaning cloth. Harsh cleaning agents and alcohol are not suitable as they can damage the dot grid, which is manufactured using a special process.
